While the first cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) began surfacing only as recently as November 2019 in Wuhan, China, the wave of reactions to its spread has increased exponentially in recent weeks. As of March, the World Health Organization officially declared the outbreak a global pandemic, and as the situation progresses across the world — most notably in Iran, China, Italy, South Korea and now North America — the Canadian entertainment industry has definitely taken note.
Seemingly every hour, there is a new tour cancellation, event postponement or suspended release in keeping with physical distancing recommendations. It can be dizzying to keep track of it all. While we wish that these beloved concerts, albums, festivals, films, awards ceremonies and other industry events weren't affected, the truth is we're all better off avoiding large gatherings where the virus is most likely to spread.
To help keep track of everything cancelled and postponed, here's our ongoing list of all of the entertainment industry events and releases affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to update the list as needed.
