With so many films being cancelled, Disney is taking a new approach with the upcoming Artemis Fowl. While the film had previously been scheduled a theatrical release on May 28, it's now moving to a digital-only release on its Disney+ streaming service.
Disney exec Ricky Strauss said in a statement, "With audiences largely unable to attend theatres in the current environment, we are thrilled to offer the premiere of Artemis Fowl on Disney+."
Artemis Fowl is a live-action adaptation of the young adult fantasy novel series. It's directed by Kenneth Branagh, and the cast features Colin Farrell, Judi Dench, Lara McDonnell and Josh Gad. Newcomer Ferdia Shaw stars in the title role.
The exact date of the digital release hasn't been announced yet, but a press release promises that the details will come "soon."
