Mariah Carey is coming back into our lives with a new double-disc rarities collection. Simply titled The Rarities, the record will arrive on October 2 via Sony Legacy.

On Friday (August 21), Carey will release the song "Save the Day" from the collection — a song that samples Lauryn Hill's vocals from the classic Fugees song "Killing Me Softly with His Song." This song will appear on the first disc alongside various other Carey rarities, while the second disc will be a previously unreleased live album recorded in Tokyo during 1996's "Daydream World Tour."

"I found stuff in my vault that I had either started to work on a long time ago and never released or that I wanted to kind of finish mixing," Carey said while on Good Morning America this morning. "There are songs that have previously not been released, so it's exciting."

A press releases added, "When compiling The Rarities, Carey delved into her archives, selecting songs with personal relevance and meaning, some of which are further explored in her upcoming memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey," which is out on September 29.

Of "Save the Day," Carey said in a statement, "I started writing this years ago and the message rings true now more than ever: 'We're all in this together.'"
