The controversial Vancouver-born artist continues to embrace the future in the teaser for her upcoming track, fittingly titled "I Wanna Be Software," featuring production from former Weeknd collaborator Illangelo.
Grimes hasn't released much music of her own in the past year after infamously calling it a "side quest," but her voice is still being heard.
She let her vocals feature on the AI-generated track "Cold Touch," which was something of a pioneer in AI music when it came out in May, given Grimes's willing participation.
It seems like she might be back to making music of her own now, as she gave fans a glimpse of "I Wanna Be Software" in a pair of TikTok posts shared today.
The second video looks as though it could be a sneak peek of the music video, featuring Grimes in the desert surrounded by a futuristic-looking, neon weapon-wielding crew reminiscent of her "Genesis" video released more than a decade ago.
