This comes after Grimes invited artists to create music using her voice — so long as she received 50 percent royalties — with an AI program called Elf.Tech specifically designed to replicate her vocals. She also recently shed her partnership with Columbia Records, making her a free agent.
"I have no label and no legal bindings," she said in a Tweet when permitting her voice to be used in AI recordings.
Grimes's approach to AI-generated music starkly contrasts practically anyone else's in the music industry, preferring to embrace and encourage it instead of fearing and loathing it.
