Tonight, Tool will finally begin a North American tour behind 2019's Fear Inoculum after the COVID-19 pandemic led them to outright cancel their planned 2020 trek. Since the band are skipping Canada on the tour, some rehearsal footage could ease the fear of missing out for listeners North of the border.

Last Tuesday (January 4) saw guitarist Adam Jones livestream a rehearsal session between himself, bassist Justin Chancellor and drummer Danny Carey on Instagram, during which the three bandmates ran through setlist inclusions with — as listed by an in-studio whiteboard — "No FX, and on backup, crap gear."

Below, you can watch the three work their way through setlist mainstays "The Pot" and "The Patient" ahead of their tour kickoff performance in Eugene, OR, this evening.

Perhaps it shouldn't come as a surprise that frontman Maynard James Keenan wasn't in attendance, knowing that the vocalist largely leaves his three bandmates on their own when it comes to writing and music-making.

As previously reported, Tool made the call to cancel their North American tour last year as they felt they couldn't "ethically" keep fans' money tied up in ticket sales during a global pandemic.

Last week, it was revealed that Tool would be using COVID-sniffing dogs on tour, in hopes of not having the virus take hold with members of their touring party. Keenan has previously revealed how he contracted COVID-19 on two separate occasions.

In late 2021, drummer Carey was arrested for an alleged assault in Kansas City.
