Weeks away from releasing new album It Is What It Is, Thundercat has shared another song from the effort.
"Fair Chance" finds the virtuosic bassist teaming with Ty Dolla $ign and Lil B to reflect on the loss of a loved one, and how that changes relationships whether romantic or platonic.
As Thundercat explained in a statement, the song was inspired by the passing of friend and collaborator Mac Miller.
"When [Mac] passed it shook the ground for the artist community," he explained. "Ty's a strong dude and when he heard the song he knew exactly what it should be. I was there when he recorded it. We talked about what it was, and he did what he felt was right to it, and I love what he did."
