Ahead of kicking off a North American tour next month, Thundercat has now announced a new album is also on the horizon.

The virtuosic bassist will release It Is What It Is on April 3 through Brainfeeder, following his 2017 album Drunk. Fifteen tracks in length, the album was executive produced by Thundercat and Brainfeeder head Flying Lotus.

It Is What It Is features contributions from Ty Dolla $ign, Childish Gambino, Lil B, Kamasi Washington, Steve Lacy, Steve Arrington, Louis Cole and Zack Fox. The BADBADNOTGOOD-assisted "King of the Hill" also appears in the tracklist.

Alongside the announcement, Thundercat has shared "Black Qualls," which features Arrington, Gambino and Lacy. You can stream the track below.

Born from writing sessions with the Internet member, Thundercat explained in a statement that the lyrics concern being young and Black in America, "What it feels like to be in this position right now… the weird ins and outs, we're talking about those feelings."
