Happy International Women's Day from Noel Gallagher. In a landmark feminist victory, the former Oasis bloke (Google it, love) has enlisted the Cure's Robert Smith to remix a song called "Pretty Boy," naturally, from his forthcoming High Flying Birds album Council Skies.

Gallagher has been teasing "Pretty Boy" as directly the Cure-inspired since 2020, saying, "I've written a tune that sounds very much like the Cure, and I didn't even have to dial back the copyright, it just sounds like the Cure."

So it's only fitting that he would ask Smith himself to lend his remixing talents, which the goth rock icon has also shared with Deftones and CHVRCHES in recent years — when not endlessly promising the Cure's imminent return, of course. (However the band do actually seem to be hinting at a tour announcement.)

Of his take on the Gallagher track, Smith said, "I was surprised and delighted when Noel asked me to remix this gorgeous song, and I had a lot of fun slowing it down and spacing it out — Cure drummer Jason Cooper gave me a great vibey drum track to play along with — and the rest just phased into place under the starry sky of my distant moon…."
