While most of us are still absorbing Stephin Merritt's Magnetic Fields opus 69 Love Songs, he's already moved on, kickin' it disco style on this five-song EP that finds him so over that affair. With co-conspirator Christopher Ewen providing the '80s synth beats, Merritt lets his droll vocal delivery and lyrical acuity speak volumes ("I'm lonely as Mount Everest, and probably as high/I'm enjoying all the records you'd never let me buy"). Don't try to wrap your head around how Merritt manages to be both effortlessly talented, but also incredibly prolific (recording as the 6ths and Gothic Archies as well) - just sit back and enjoy the best thing OMD ever spawned.
