Toronto-based rapper DijahSB is serving up a new EP announcement, complete with an amuse bouche: "Here to Dance" with Chicago's Mick Jenkins.

Titled Tasty Raps Vol 1., the Polaris Music Prize-shortlister's latest collection comes September 17. It follows their acclaimed sophomore album Head Above the Waters, which also made Exclaim!'s list of the 31 best albums of 2021 so far

And DijahSB delivers that slinky bounce.wav in abundance yet again. Produced by Reon Vangèr, the syncopated "Here to Dance" is primed for club sweat with Jenkins smoothly setting the scene before the Torontonian rides its humming rhythm with their quick-witted, agile flow.

Of the track, the artist said in a statement:

This is a dream collab for me — Mick soundtracked my entire 2019/2020 year. Working retail, I used to listen to him to and from work. From then I've deemed him one of my favourite rappers. "Here to Dance" is smooth and is about not tryna hear shit about shit while in social spaces; I just wanna dance.

While DijahSB is known for their unflinching vulnerability, a little dance floor escapism is a necessity. As they told Exclaim!, "Everybody has different ways of navigating the world. I just feel like [being vulnerable] is my way of navigating things."

Nothing starts the party quite like honesty.

You can hear "Here to Dance" below, where you'll also find the full EP tracklist.

In April, Jenkins teamed up with Nate Husser for "Teriyaki." Before that, the rapper also collaborated with Canada's own Kaytranada on "Designer Frames."
