Electronic music visionary and onetime Nine Inch Nails member Alessandro Cortini is returning with a brand new album. Called VOLUME MASSIMO, Cortini's latest full-length will arrive on September 27 via Mute, marking his first release for the storied label.

Already, you can hear the album opener "AMORE AMARO," which can be streamed at the bottom of the page.

VOLUME MASSIMO marks the follow-up to Corini's stellar 2017 effort Avanti. According to a press release, "VOLUME MASSIMO combines his fondness for melody with the rigor of experimental practice that strikes a balance between analog composition and cathartic dissonance, creating a momentous continuation of the aching electronics that he's renowned for."

Explaining the album further, the PR adds, "Often the foreground is luscious, and hints at Cortini's pop sensibilities, as the background takes us down a vast melancholic maze. Perhaps surprisingly, his latest work is interspersed with guitar motifs that act as a subtle punctuation for the oneiric landscapes that shimmer before us."

For a taste of that, hear "AMORE AMARO" below.
