Montreal's MUTEK has announced the first wave of artists performing at its 24th edition of the festival, set to take place from August 22 to 27 in the Quartier des spectacles.

Focused on discovery and innovation, Tim Hecker, Honeydrip, Deadbeat, Lowfish, Alessandro Cortini, Dbridge, E-Saggila, Hierogylphic Being, SKY H1, Kyoka, Pascale Project, Sapphire Slows, the Cyclist and a total of over 100 sound and visual artists will lead us forth into the future — both indoors and outdoors at the Esplanade Tranquille — this summer.

This year also sees the MUTEK Forum return for its ninth edition, gathering forward-thinking digital creatives and artists at the 7 Fingers performance centre from August 22 to 25 to continue probing the ethical, ecological and political issues with technological advancements, delving even deeper into topics like extended reality (XR), artificial intelligence (AI), sustainability and accessibility. Likewise, the MUTEK Market will bring together industry and professionals worldwide both in-person and online, with a spotlight on Canadian and Quebecois creatives as part of the Market Selection artistic showcase.

MUTEK 24 marks its first partnership with Usine C and international media art platform INSCAPE to celebrate the creative relationship between Canada and the Republic of Korea with INSCAPE: NEW HOMEOSTASIS taking place the weekend before the festival proper. For two unique evenings of programming, 12 multidisciplinary artists will explore the concept of homeostasis over eight new commissioned performances.

The complete program will be unveiled in May, but MUTEK passports and weekend passes are already on sale here, with discounts available for students and groups of five or more. All ticket-buyers are participants in the festival's eco-responsible approach, with each sale contributing to the Planetair reforestation project.

See the first wave of artists below, and listen to their music on MUTEK's Spotify and Soundcloud playlists.
