Mere days before the COVID-19 pandemic sent the film industry into worldwide shutdowns in 2020, we got word that the beloved Canadian sketch comedy series The Kids in the Hall would be returning as an Amazon Prime reboot. Now, it appears the gang have started work on the project, after KITH co-founder Dave Foley announced his return to Toronto.
"Sitting in O'Hare in Chicago," Foley wrote in a recent tweet on his way to Pearson Airport. "About to board flight to Toronto to start production of [The Kids in the Hall] reboot for Amazon after a pandemic pause of 1yr."
The comedian also posted a masked selfie, and signed off, "Wish us luck."

In addition to Foley's return, the series will also bring back Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson. Lorne Michaels will return to executive produce, promising to give fans both fan-favourite characters and some new ones.
As previously reported, the reboot will mark the first all-Canadian original project for Prime.
The Kids have yet to announce an official release date for the reboot, so stay tuned as more information becomes available. Speaking with Exclaim! last year, Thompson revealed the series will run for eight episodes and that Amazon would be the new streaming home for the entire KITH library.
The Kids in the Hall initially ran from 1988 to 1995. In 1996, they then released the film Brain Candy before reuniting again in 2010 for the CBC miniseries Death Comes to Town.
