A few years ago, Violent Femmes bassist Brian Ritchie said that the band's singer-guitarist Gordon Gano had lost his songwriting ability. The group have since reunited, and perhaps Gano didn't completely lose his mojo after all, since they have just released a new song called "Love Love Love Love Love."
The track is a horn-injected take on the Femmes' classic ramshackle folk-punk, as Latin-flavoured strums provide a quirky backdrop for Gano's loosey-goosey, snarling croons. It's not exactly "Blister in the Sun," but it's better than nothing considering that the outfit haven't released any new music in 15 years.
Hear it below. An EP is apparently forthcoming. Judging by the artwork that accompanies the track, it seems likely that the EP will be called Happy New Year.
