It's a big month for people with fond memories of 1994. This month in Vancouver will see two notable 30th anniversary tours, as well as shows from breaking artists who we'll feel nostalgic about 30 years in the future. Here are seven can't-miss concerts coming to Vancouver in October 2024.

The National / The War on Drugs
Rogers Arena, October 2

The Zen Diagram Tour, which I'm pretty sure absolutely everyone refers to to as the Sad Dads Tour, brings together two of the best aughts indie rock outfits. The National bring a chaotic spontaneity to their melancholy laments, while the War on Drugs carefully refine their psychedelic melancholia. Read our review of their recent Toronto show here.

Weezer
Rogers Arena, October 5

Blast off, up to the stars we go! Weezer's Voyage to the Blue Planet tour finds the group playing their first album in full, 30 years since its release. It's still their best album (sorry all you sick Pinkerton freaks).

André 3000
Queen Elizabeth Theatre, October 11

An important word of warning: there won't be a single syllable of rapping when the OutKast legend takes the stage. Rather, this is the tour behind his new age flute album New Blue Sun. It's transcendent, so long as you're not expecting "B.O.B."

Brittany Howard
Queen Elizabeth Theatre, October 12

With the bluesy rock of Alabama Shakes in the rearview for the time being, singer Brittany Howard has branched out with the dazzling disco and soul of her solo work. Based on this year's What Now, expect a fun and funky time.

Nico Paulo
China Cloud, October 15

One of those "if you know, you know" songwriters, St. John's, NL-based singer-songwriter Nico Paulo will travel all the way across the country in support her excellent self-titled debut from 2023.

Nilüfer Yanya
Hollywood Theatre, October 18

The newly released My Method Actor is one of the best albums of the year so far, so come to her live show to find out how she translates those spellbinding arrangements of interlocking arpeggios, jazzy grooves and the occasional distorted crescendos to the stage.

Hatebreed
Rickshaw Theatre, October 19

After 30 years of kicking up a metalcore racket, Hatebreed will arrive for a mellow acoustic tour… Just kidding! Expect a sonic beatdown as the pummelling band celebrate three decades of doing what they do best.
