If you missed it, TV on the Radio are very much back. They're coming off of four New York City shows — their first live performances in over five years — and are scheduled to start a similar stand in Los Angeles, CA, tonight, and recently also played NPR's Tiny Desk.
And that's hardly all of note for frontman Tunde Adebimpe as of late: he released a solo single in October and has an upcoming album for Sub Pop in 2025. On the acting side of things, after years of predominantly appearing in indie films, he was featured in the box office blockbuster Twisters. Now, it's been revealed that the musician also has a role in the new Disney+ Star Wars TV series, the first two episodes having just premiered on the streamer.
In Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Adebimpe plays Wendle, father to one of four kids searching for their home planet after getting lost in the Star Wars galaxy. Created by Christopher Ford and Jon Watts (Spiderman: Homecoming), the show also stars the likes of Jude Law, Nick Frost and Kerry Condon.
Adebimpe expressed his excitement for the project on Instagram yesterday (December 3), sharing a childhood photo of himself wearing a Star Wars belt buckle and writing, "Been 👏🏿 about👏🏿 it 👏🏿since👏🏿'82. Trust."
He continued, "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is ON! First two episodes are up and they're great. INCREDIBLY psyched to be a part of this show, and very excited for everyone to check it OUT. Huge congrats to all involved, it's a very special one." Check out Adebimpe's post, as well as the Skeleton Crew trailer, below.
