Tool's Maynard James Keenan Is a Big 'Letterkenny' Fan

The vocalist told the show's Evan Stern to "Calm the fuck down — or you're gonna pull a hammy"

Popular Canadian comedy series Letterkenny has been known to unite a country (or two), and Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan can be counted among its American fans.

The revelation comes courtesy of Evan Stern, who plays character Roald in the series. On TikTok earlier this week, the actor shared a clip of himself in a 2017 behind-the-scenes featurette in which the Letterkenny cast reveal their favourite bands — his own pick being Tool.

Stern then showed viewers a photo from Keenan's Instagram, in which he's wearing a Letterkenny logo T-shirt, complete with hashtags #hardno and #pitterpatter.

The actor's excitement led to a reply from Keenan on TikTok — dressed in a second selection from his Letterkenny merch wardrobe — who urged Stern to "calm the fuck down — or you're gonna pull a hammy," before working in a grammar lesson while reminding him of his work with A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.

In the comments, Keenan inquired, "So did I pass my audition? Do I get to play Roald's long lost grumpy father in Season 10 @letterkennyproblems." You can watch their videos below.

Letterkenny's ninth season premiered late last year. Series spinoff Shoresy, written by Jared Keeso and directed by Jacob Tierney, was announced earlier this month.

Keenan released Existential Reckoning with Puscifer last year. Tool made their return with Fear Inoculum in 2019, while A Perfect Circle released Eat the Elephant in 2018.
