Today (April 23) marks the start of Swollen Members' spring tour, and with it comes some more info behind the Vancouver rap crew's upcoming Brand New Day LP.
While we had learned earlier this year that the act would deliver their follow-up to 2013's Beautiful Death Machine sometime in the summer, Battleaxe Records has now confirmed that the official due date is June 17.
The 16-song set features guest production from the likes of DJ Makeaway and DJ Revolution, but the only guys spitting on the set are Swollen's Prevail and Madchild, a fact of which the act are proud.
"With Brand New Day, Swollen Members have written a powerful new chapter in our history. We have all become forward thinkers and our level of expression has benefited," Prevail said in a statement. "This album is a landmark for us in that it doesn't feature any guests. Our belief system has been renewed and we agreed that between the amazing production and the complexity of the lyrical value, we could let Brand New Day speak for itself."
To help promote both the tour and the new album, Swollen Members have unveiled Brand New Day's positive-minded title track. You can check out the glass-half-full verses and sped-up samples of the West Coast boom-bap track down below.
Pre-orders for the set are being taken now over here, with the album available on CD, LP and digitally, or packaged in deluxe bundles with shirts, hats and more.
Swollen Members' tour starts tonight at Vancouver's Venue. You'll find the rest of the concert details at the bottom of the page.
