Rob Zombie has certainly lived up to his name, spending decades mastering both music and films that are creepy, spooky and messed up. And he'll keep that scary streak going by directing an official reboot of The Munsters.

The new movie adaptation of the '60s TV series has been rumoured for a while, and now he's confirmed the project himself.

Zombie posted the above image on his Instagram, writing, "ttention Boils and Ghouls! 💀The rumors are true! ☠️ My next film project will be the one I've been chasing for 20 years! THE MUNSTERS! 🦇🦇🦇🦇 Stay tuned for exciting details as things progress!"

Assuming the original rumours were true, Zombie is set to write and direct the project. Rumoured casting includes his wife Sheri Moon Zombie playing Lily Munster and Jeff Daniel Phillips taking on the role of Herman Munster. Richard Brake, Dan Roebuck, Jorge Garcia and Elvira are also rumoured for the film.

When complete, the project is rumoured to be coming to the Peacock streaming service. None of that information has been confirmed, but we do at least now know that the film is happening.
