Fredericton's Motherhood have announced their fifth full-length album, previewed today by lead single "Bok Globule."
Thunder Perfect Mind arrives January 24 via Forward Music Group. The follow-up to the garage-surf trio's 2022 offering Winded was co-produced by the band and Kyle Cunjak, and mixed by Deerhoof's Greg Saunier.
Borne from singer-guitarist Brydon Crain's commutes across the Wolastoq River, Thunder Perfect Mind is an 11-track concept album that narrates the sudden abduction of a pedestrian by a "dark, expanding Cloud."
"Despite it being a concept album that's basically a sci-fi novel, it's the most approachable album we've ever made," said multi-instrumentalist Penny Stevens, with Crain adding, "We see what people respond to at our shows and we wanted to give them songs they'll love."
