Nemahsis Nabs Artist of the Year Award at 2025 Women in Music Honours

Ahead of International Women's Day this weekend (March 8), Women in Music Canada (WIMC) has handed out its third annual honours to women and gender-diverse people in the industry.

Taking home the Artist of the Year award in 2025 is Toronto-based singer-songwriter Nemahsis, whose 2024 debut album Verbathim has also earned the Palestinian-Canadian numerous JUNO nods

Additional honours were issued to Ebonnie Rowe (Entrepreneur of the Year), TMU/SOCAN's Dr. Charlie Wall-Andrews (Change Maker of the Year), Folk on the Rocks Artistic Director Carly McFadden (Excellence in Music), Alysha Brilla (International Leader of the Year) and more. This year's nominees included recent Exclaim! cover stars Allison Russell and BAMBII, as well as DijahSB, LU KALA, Tia Wood and more.
