Apple TV+ has shared the first trailer for their upcoming three-part series documenting John Lennon's murder, and, as promised, it gives an extremely intimate look at the case. In perhaps the most jarring revelations of the trailer, one of the eyewitnesses recalls Mark David Chapman apologizing to people directly after murdering the Beatles' frontman.
After shooting Lennon five times from behind, the crazed fan-turned-killer "actually apologized to us," revealed one witness.
"He said, 'Gee, I'm sorry I ruined your night,'" the witness said incredulously. "I said, 'You gotta be kidding me, you just ruined your whole life!'"
Chapman, who remains in prison today, has been denied parole 12 times since his initial arraignment in 1980. His next shot at getting out will come in February 2024.
