The teasing is over — Lorde's new single "Solar Power" is here. Marking her first new music since 2017, "Solar Power" comes complete with a new video, which you can watch below. And better yet, the song will serve as the title track for her new album Solar Power.
Lorde co-wrote and co-produced the song with Jack Antonoff, who also provides drums and guitar on the song. Phoebe Bridgers and Clairo are even on the song to provide backup vocals, with drummer Matt Chamberlain also lending a hand.
As you'll witness, the clip is extremely summer-appropriate, with Lorde and bunch of yoga-dancing dancers living the good life on the beach. It's a bit of a slow burner at first, but when it kicks in, well, it really kicks.
As for the record, Solar Power does not have a release date yet, but it will mark the follow-up to 2017's Melodrama.
"The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalising the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I'm outdoors," Lorde wrote in her newsletter. "In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I've learnt to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through."
She added: "I want this album to be your summer companion, the one you pump on the drive to the beach. The one that lingers on your skin like a tan as the months get cooler again."
It's yet to be seen if this will actually be the album's cover art, but fingers crossed.
For now, soak in the rays below.
