Hot on the heels of releasing her sophomore album ripe fruit falls but not in your mouth, Montreal's Hua Li 化力 has offered up a remix of "Your Beautiful Self" from Land of Talk's 2023 record, Performances.
"I'm obsessed with Hua Li 化力's 'Your Beautiful Self' remix," Lizzie Powell shared in a release. "I have enjoyed many transcendent moments listening, dancing, and blissing out to this track. Hua Li 化力 did more than remix this song — she elevated and reimagined it."
For her reimagining of the piano-driven track, Hua Li 化力 weaves the original keyboard motif through a Wurlitzer organ, oscillating between disco- and house-inspired rhythms with lightly skittering hi-hats. She uses the space of Powell's bridge to really capitalize on the slow-building momentum for a climax you can't help but move to.
