Following an extended hiatus, Hootie & the Blowfish are reuniting for both a North American tour and a new album.
Hootie made the announcement today, confirming the '90s group will be reforming for their first new album in 15 years. The new LP will be released on their new label home of Universal Music Group Nashville in 2019, and while details of the reunion album are slim, the band have mapped out an extensive North American reunion tour.
Dubbed the "Group Therapy Tour," the trek will feature Canadian faves Barenaked Ladies and made its way around North America next year.
The tour is a long one, running from late May all the way through to mid-September with only minimal breaks. There are a lot of U.S. dates, but there's currently just one Canadian stop: August 29 at Toronto's Budweiser Stage.
BNL's Ed Robertson said in a statement, "We've played with Hootie & the Blowfish a few times over the years, and it's always been a good time. We're thrilled they asked us to support them on this tour. I can't imagine a better triple bill. Barenaked Ladies, Hootie AND the Blowfish?!! Sign me up! Wait, I've already signed up!"
See the lengthy schedule below. Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday (December 7).
