Sup freaks? It's our time again. Los Angeles butt plug connoisseurs HEALTH have announced plans for their next album, RAT WARS (fuck yeah). It's due December 7 through Loma Vista Recordings, but today, you can hear two new singles.
Following the release of album cut "HATEFUL" (the Matrix-meets-witch house iPad baby track that the band dropped back in April), HEALTH have now shared "CHILDREN OF SORROW" featuring Lamb of God's Willie Adler on guitar, and the Godflesh-sampling "SICKO," which land back-to-back on the album.
Said to unleash "all the fury and ambition their LPs have until now aspired to," RAT WARS is being billed as HEALTH's "boldest statement on the insanity and the insipidness of contemporary life."
"It's The Downward Spiral for people with at least two monitors and a vitamin D deficiency," an album bio reads.
RAT WARS marks the follow-up to HEALTH's back-to-back collaborative albums — DISCO4 :: PART II (one of Exclaim!'s Best Albums of 2022) and the equally vicious DISCO4 :: PART I (2020) — which saw them teaming up with everyone from Nine Inch Nails and Soccer Mommy to Backxwash and 100 gecs. While the new record evidently isn't devoid of collaborations, it appears to put the group's core sound back into focus, with bandleader Jake Duzsik's vocals on full display throughout.
