HEALTH have returned with their sixth studio album, DISCO4 :: PART II, their latest collaborative effort following the excellent team-ups of 2020's PART I.
PART II, arriving today through Loma Vista Recordings, finds the Los Angeles trio joining forces with an impressive roster of collaborators — namely Nine Inch Nails, Lamb of God, the Body, Perturbator, the Neighbourhood and Poppy, as well as a couple of Canadian faves in Black Dresses' Ada Rook and Backxwash, who provide relentlessly heavy bars on "MURDER KILL DEATH" with PlayThatBoiZay, and "PAGAN-ICONZ" with Ho99o9, respectively.
The 12-track album also features an original closing track, "THESE DAYS 2.0.2.1." — produced and recorded by the group's Jacob Duzsik and John Famiglietti with Benjamin Miller on drums.
The album was previously previewed by singles "STILL BREATHING," "COLD BLOOD," "DEAD FLOWERS" and "ISN'T EVERYONE" — all of which delivered diverse sonic palettes, each in equally heavy measure, as HEALTH fans have come to expect.
Standouts among today's release include the aforementioned tracks, as well as the Body's appearance on "AD 1000," and contributions by tourmates Perturbator (on "EXCESS") and Street Sects (on "THE JOY OF SECT").
The latter two outfits will join HEALTH at two Canadian performances this September — one at Montreal's Théâtre Corona on the 8th, and another at Toronto's Danforth Music Hall on the 9th.
What the band have planned beyond their already-busy 2022 is anyone's guess. But considering 2021 saw DISCO4 :: PART I revisited in remix album DISCO4+ (following the reworks on 2017's DISCO3+), it's probably safe to assume there's no shortage of HEALTH on the horizon.
For now, you can listen to the heavy, provocative and unflinchingly raw DISCO4 :: PART II below, where you'll also find their new video for "NO ESCAPE."
