Yesterday (June 4), Halsey shared a new song — a vulnerable acoustic ballad produced alongside Alex G — called "The End." They wrote on Instagram, "long story short, i'm Lucky to be alive. short story long, i wrote an album."

Now, the alt-pop singer-songwriter born Ashley Frangipane has opened up about their health issues, revealing that they've been diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) as well as "a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder."

SLE is an autoimmune disease wherein the body mistakenly attacks healthy tissue, while the diagnostic class of lymphoproliferative disorders see lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) produced in excessive quantities. As per today's Instagram post, Halsey was diagnosed with both conditions in 2022. Both are also currently being managed or in remission, but will likely be something the artist has to cope with for the rest of their life.

They were also diagnosed with endometriosis in 2016 and have been a vocal advocate since. Earlier this year, they shared photos of an abdominal scar after undergoing a procedure for the incredibly painful disorder characterized by tissue similar to the lining of the uterus growing outside of the uterus.

"After 2 years, I'm feeling better and I'm more grateful than ever to have music to turn to," Halsey wrote on Instagram today. "I can't wait to get back where I belong: With you all, singing and screaming my heart out."

While Halsey has clearly indicated that there's a new album on the way — which they revealed they were working with Alex G to record back in March — "The End" is decidedly not its lead single, but you can listen to it below. Their last LP was 2021's If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power, made in collaboration with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

On new promotional website ForMyLastTrick.com, a note from the artist reads: "There's so much I am going to reveal on this record, but you need to know some of the story first. So before the chaos and confetti of big singles and album releases I just need to tell you, my friend, why it all matters this time."
