So this is damage control, huh? It's kind of wild to think that, not six weeks ago, Drake was just releasing albums nobody wanted and cursing sports teams as the biggest rap star in the world. Then, the beef ensued — Chet Hanks can explain everything if you missed it — and Kendrick Lamar called him a pedophile on a No. 1 hit that people will be hollering along with at every function all summer long.
These are apparently the circumstances that force a man to drop a verse on a somewhat viral remix of the 2006 Plain White T's hit, "Hey There Delilah," concocted by local Toronto mans/social media personality Snowd4y. His novelty mix, "Wah Gwan Delilah," has been making the rounds on the platforms, soundtracking various video clips with the sweet sounds of being 2,000 kilometres away but that girl still shining brighter than Dundas Square.
As per Complex, Snowd4y has been teasing the possibility of a Drake collaboration since last week, saying on the Richdiet Podcast that he'd be down so long as Drizzy were to "come on it neatly." When he dropped the new version of the track last night (June 3), people obviously still thought the highly Auto-Tuned, Jamaican patois-inflecting Drake verse was AI (despite the fact that the lyrics weren't dropping mad trigonometry facts).
But no, this thing still seems to be real: the rapper posted "Wah Gwan Delilah" to his Instagram story, writing, "@snowd4y wake up the city."
You can listen to "Wah Gwan Delilah" below to hear Drake be so cheesed and apologize for his cro'nem wearing a shiesty.
