Chastity is "for the skids, the headbangers, the freaks," according to press notes for the forthcoming fourth studio album from the emo project helmed by Whitby, ON's Brandon Williams. If you've been called out, listen up: Williams has announced the release of his self-titled album, led by new single "Jaw Locked."
Due September 13 via Dine Alone Records, Chastity marks a new chapter following the trilogy of LPs consisting of 2018's Death Lust, 2019's Home Made Satan and 2022's Suffer Summer. Those records were made with a degree of remove, but Williams has now created his first fully non-fiction work — hence the apt self-titling.
"It's really about the first nosedive that I did as a young person," the singer-songwriter said in a statement about the album, which he recorded with engineer/mixer John Paul Peters in Winnipeg. "It's a record about struggle, about the missing years. It's also a thank you to some people in my life."
Of the opening track, Williams added, "For a few years we've closed our live show with the same song, but we've never really had a song that opens our live show totally right. I am so excited that we've found that in this song 'Jaw Locked,' and that we can open the self-titled album with this song as well."
