Just over two years removed from releasing her Lady in Mind EP, Winnipeg singer/songwriter Alexa Dirks has detailed her debut full-length album as Begonia.
Titled Fear, the 12-track album arrives September 13 through Rex Baby Records/Sony Music Canada. Dirks wrote and co-produced the record alongside Matt Schellenberg (Royal Canoe), Matt Peters (Royal Canoe) and Marcus Paquin (the National, Arcade Fire, Local Natives).
Following previously released singles "The Light," "Beats" and "Living at the Ceiling," Dirks has now shared new single "Hanging on a Line" alongside a Ryan Steel-directed video you can find below.
As Dirks explained in a statement, "Hanging on a Line" is a song about "seriously falling in love in the club. Sometimes anything seems possible when you're slightly intoxicated and there's a sub bass vibrating through your body. Amidst all this there are two extra underlying messages; try to be a good person and remember to stay hydrated."
Begonia has lined up a number of Canadian festival dates for the summer, including stops at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, Squamish Constellation Festival, Riverfest Elora and Hamilton's Supercrawl. You can see her upcoming schedule below.
