Arkells Announce New Album 'Laundry Pile,' Share Title Track

The band will debut their new song tonight on tour

Localist rock heroes Arkells have announced plans for their follow-up to last year's Blink Twice. Max Kerman and co. will share Laundry Pile on September 21 through Universal Music Canada.

"Anyone who keeps a journal will tell you that writing is one of the best ways to work through the chapters of your life," Kerman said in a statement. "Our new album Laundry Pile is a chapter that documents some of the messy parts that end up teaching you a lot: love, regret, desire, shame, and the longing to get it right. The title track is out first, and it's a memory honouring the little moments that represent a true partnership."

"Laundry Pile" arrives alongside a music video by Mark Myers that sees Kerman singing directly into the camera with the album's cover art placed delicately on the wall behind him. "I already love the parts you don't like in yourself / We don't need some fancy hotel / You're home from the bar, do you need a friend? / Laundry pile sitting at the end of the bed," he sings.

The band will debut the song live tonight in Los Angeles, the first stop in a short run of tour dates this summer. With more performances to be announced, the band have already mapped out shows in St. John's, Sarnia, Red Deer, Saskatoon, Albany, Buffalo, Labrador City and Ottawa. Stay tuned for further tour updates.
