Usher did his best Samuel L. Jackson impression last night when he brought the 2000s R&B/hip-hop Avengers together at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, but it was far from the only Marvel content of the night — Ryan Reynolds hinted at a superhero team-up of his own when he dropped the first teaser trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine.
The teaser stays completely on tone with the first two Deadpool movies, blending gory action uncharacteristic of your typical Marvel movie with the title character's signature raunchy, meta humour. Case in point: "Pegging isn't new for me, friend-o. But it is for Disney."
Along with series mainstays Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand and Karan Soni, Succession star Matthew Macfadyen has joined the fray as a Time Variance Authority agent, similar to Owen Wilson's character in Loki.
Although only his silhouette appeared in the first look, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine was teased as well.
Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theatres July 26. Check out the full teaser trailer below.
