This month, Finn Wolfhard will star in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and it's been revealed that the forthcoming flick isn't the only screen project he has in store, as he is directing a feature film of his own.
News of Wolfhard's project comes in a new interview with NME, which covers the Stranger Things star's life in music and film:
When Wolfhard talks about his time on any set, you get the impression he is constantly absorbing and observing, keen to learn absolutely everything about the craft. It makes sense – he has designs on becoming a filmmaker himself. He's already written and directed a short film called Night Shifts, and is currently working on his first feature-length film. "It's a horror-comedy-slasher movie that takes place at a camp," he says, keeping the rest of the details close to his chest for now.
"Horror-comedy-slasher" feels very in line with the roles Wolfhard has held in It, It Chapter 2 and The Turning, on top of voice acting in 2019's The Addams Family.
NME adds that Wolfhard's film will arrive after the fourth season of Stranger Things, which is expected to see release in 2022. "The Duffer Brothers are at a point where, as the characters grow our audiences grows with them," Wolfhard offered of the new batch of episodes. "That's really nice and we can start to get a little more scary and kind of horror-related. There are a lot more gross things, for sure."
Last year, it was reported that Wolfhard's 2020 short Rules for Werewolves would be adapted into a feature film, directed by Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux and based on the debut novel by Kirk Lynn. You can read his complete interview with NME here.
Today, Wolfhard released Karaoke Alone with post-Calpurnia project the Aubreys, which you can hear below.
