Last month, we learned that ever-busy Quebecois director Denis Villeneuve was being considered to direct a new Dune film. It's time for Villeneuve to celebrate with some melange, because he's officially signed on for the project.
The news was confirmed by Brian Herbert, son of Dune novelist Frank Herbert. He tweeted the announcement earlier this week:
While we've always dreamed of seeing Alejandro Jodorowsky's interpretation (and wouldn't mind a Duplass Dune either), we have a feeling Villeneuve will do a bang-up job. Before Dune, he'll deliver his Blade Runner 2049 later this year.
