Vampire Weekend's newest LP, Modern Vampires of the City, may have already seen its release back in May, but it appears bassist Chris Baio is ready to stretch his wings and fly solo with the announcement of his new EP, Mira. Recorded under the pseudonym Baio, the dance music-inspired record is due out October 28 through Australian label Future Classic.
The EP comes hot on the heels of last year's three-song Sunburn EP and finds the New York native continuing his sonic exploration outside the confines of his prep-loving four-piece.
Of course, Baio isn't the first Vampire Weekend member to dabble in an electronic side project — multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij previously performed with Ra Ra Riot's Wes Miles under the name Discovery back in 2009.
But until Mira sees the light of day, tie yourself over by listening to Baio's remix of "Regular Town" by Sydney-based pop-rockers New Navy in the player below.
