Twin Peaks haven't released a full-length album since 2019's Lookout Low, and in the interim, singer/guitarist Cadien Lake James has stepped out on his own. Under the moniker lake j, he's announced his debut solo album, previewed by lead single "My Own Mess."

Written and produced by the artist, Dizzy is due March 1. It features contributions from a bunch of (largely Chicago-based) musicians, including Will Miller and Malcolm Brown (Whitney), Julien Ehrlich, Max Kakacek, Macie Stewart (FINOM), Yuma Abe, Andrew Humphrey, and James's Twin Peaks bandmate, Colin Croom.

Press notes describe the album's essence as "a beat that yearns," with "James’s breakbeat platform, topped with Ronnie Lane-ian jangle chords, sparkling harps and swirling keys, push[ing] out, want[ing] to tell you something — even if that something is nothing in particular."

Lead track "My Own Mess" certainly has an effortless, Wurlitzer-laced groove that finds the musician right inside a dreamy, sun-kissed pocket. You can check it out below, where you'll also find the album tracklist.
