As the coronavirus pandemic continues to upend the music world, Scarface has revealed he has tested positive for COVID-19.
The 49-year-old Houston rapper revealed his diagnosis today during a livestream conversation with fellow Geto Boy Willie D. Scarface said he received his positive test result yesterday evening (March 25) after weeks of having symptoms escalate in severity.
What began as "an itch in [his] throat," soon led to a fever that cleared 100 degrees, landing him in the ER. He was put on an IV with antibiotics and was soon discharged, only to return "even sicker" not long after the first visit.
"It started off with pneumonia in both of my lungs and three or four days later my kidneys failed," Scarface said, also noting his pre-existing asthma. "I've been to the point where I felt I was gonna die."
Now recovering at home, Scarface warned viewers of the virus, "don't play no games with it."
"I'm thinking I may be on the back end of it, because I've probably had it for so long," he said. "It's been to the point where I'd be laying down and I couldn't get comfortable because it was like an elephant sitting on my chest, bro. I could not breathe, I couldn't sit up.
"I haven't been nowhere. I've been in my house. I ain't been on no planes, I ain't been in no restaurants... People out there thinking this shit is a game? You don't want to play with this."
