After a band-issued zine revealed the release date of a new PUP album titled Morbid Stuff last week, the group have now detailed their third studio album.
Arriving April 5, Morbid Stuff runs 11 tracks in length and features songs titled "See You at Your Funeral," "Bloody Mary, Kate and Ashley" and "Full Blown Meltdown." It's set to arrive through the band's own label Little Dipper/Universal.
PUP had finished recording Morbid Stuff in May of last year, tracking the effort at at Union Sound Company in Toronto with Dave Schiffman and Darren McGill. The album follows 2016's The Dream Is Over.
Alongside the announcement, the band have shared a first single titled "Kids," which you can hear in the players below.
"'Kids' is a love song from one nihilistic depressive to another," frontman Stefan Babcock explained in a statement. "It's about what happens when you stumble across the only other person on the face of this godless, desolate planet that thinks everything is as twisted and as fucked up as you do. And thanks to them, the world starts to seem just a little less bleak. But only slightly — it's still pretty fucked up to be honest."
PUP have also announced a lengthy tour behind the album that will kick off in March, and you can find the dates for that below. Further ticketing and tour info can be found through the band's official website.
UPDATE (1/18, 11:00 a.m. EST): PUP have added a second hometown show in Toronto. They will return to the Danforth Music Hall on June 8 — and they've warned that "this is the last one no matter how fast it sells out."
UPDATE (2/19, 4:40 p.m. EST): PUP have now booked a Toronto show at RBC Echo Beach on July 21. Twin Peaks and Charly Bliss will open.
