Australia's the Paper Kites and Vancouver's Old Man Canyon may hail from different hemispheres, but they've got a few things in common: they both favour a folksy style of music, and this fall they will be teaming up for a North American tour.
The outing runs for just shy of a month from the first half of November into the first half of December. In that time, Old Man Canyon and the Paper Kites will hit up a number of U.S. cities and make nine Canadian stops, including shows in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.
The Paper Kites will release their new album twelvefour this Friday (August 28) through Nettwerk Records in Canada. Old Man Canyon's most recent release is his 2014 EP Phantoms & Friends.
However, Old Man Canyon does have an album called Delirium due out in 2016 on Randm Records. It will apparently represent a major sonic shift; he said in a statement, "My writing process and interests have completely changed, so inevitably the dynamics and energy of the songs have changed. There's really no acoustic guitar in the new stuff — the new songs incorporate a lot of my obsession with vintage synthesizers and groovy dark riffs. I think this album will be a departure in ways from the past songs, but also not far enough so that one can't hear it's still the same band and creative spirit."
