For NOFX, a New EP Is Just a 'Half Album'

A public domain icon stars in the video for "I'm a Rat"

Ahead of continuing to play their final tour dates, NOFX have announced a new EP. The punk vets will deliver Half Album on April 19 via Fat Wreck Chords.

The five songs which make up Half Album were recorded during the same sessions that produced 2021's Single Album and 2022 follow-up Double Album. As vocalist Fat Mike explains, "It just takes me a while to finish shit. So, this is me tying up loose ends, which is very good for the soul."

He continues, "Was it worth it? Was it worth spending five years finishing the five songs on my double album project that I thought were the worst of the bunch? Was it a good idea to spend so much time raising the runts of the litter? Was it an error in judgement when I wrote a song about the magnitude of my arrogance? I think the answers to all these rhetorical questions might be found by listening to this half-sided album... but I seriously doubt it."

"I'm a Rat" is the first of the five songs to arrive, and you can hear it in the player below alongside a Chris Graue-directed video. The clip stars newly minted public domain darling Steamboat Willie as Steamboat Fatty — complete with a wisp of blue hair and NOFX band merch for a look so iconic, they probably should have put him on the album cover.

As previously reported, NOFX's last-ever tour includes Canadian stops in Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal.
