NOFX Push the Boundaries of Their Sound with 'Single Album'

Punk lifers NOFX had originally planned to deliver a double album for their 14th full-length release, but instead they paired it down to a single LP with the cleverly titled Single Album. Still, as the album (which is out today) quickly reveals, there's plenty of sonic experimentation to be found.

"I wanted to make a perfect double album, and I didn't accomplish that," Fat Mike said. "So I decided to just make a single album, hence the title."

Just because it's a Single Album does not mean it's lacking in ideas. In fact, NOFX's boundary pushing is evident from the album opener "The Big Drag," which is a six-minute post-hardcore song unlike anything they've done before. "Linewleum" sees them deconstruct and rebuild their hit song "Linoleum" with some help from Avenged Sevenfold, and album closer "Your Last Resort" adds pensive piano to the NOFX sound.

Single Album is out today via Fat Wreck. Buy a physical copy here and stream the album here or via the embeds below.

To celebrate its arrival, Fat Mike will also go live on Fat Wreck's Twitch at noon PT today.
