In a summer dedicated to brats, gay chaos and, of course, me espresso, there's not much room for sadness. Unless you ask London Grammar, who turned Sabrina Carpenter's ode to caffeine into a pseudo-pensive piano ballad for BBC Radio 1.
Taking the horny crown jewel of 2024 pop's big three and making it more "sophisticated" has the same energy as those 2011 straight hipster couples that turned "Toxic" by Britney Spears into a sultry, acoustic (or ukelele) number for some reason. London Grammar's take on "Espresso" is at least pretty, but you get the gist of it after about thirty seconds. Listen to it below.
