Montreal's Land of Talk — the long-running, shapeshifting outfit helmed by Lizzie Powell — have announced an expanded and remastered reissue of their 2006 debut EP, Applause Cheer Boo Hiss.
Applause Cheer Boo Hiss: The Definitive Edition will be available on 2LP via Saddle Creek on July 12. Also releasing that day is a vinyl compilation of two Land of Talk EPs: 2009's Fun and Laughter and 2021's Calming Night Partner.
The first Applause Cheer Boo Hiss: The Definitive Edition LP features a remastered 10-song version of the original EP, which comes along with five additional digital download bonus tracks of live material. The second LP, L'Aventure Acoustique, comprises acoustic versions of all seven original tracks, as well as "Young Bridge," future Land of Talk hit "Some Are Lakes," and a cover of Wintersleep's "Weighty Ghost."
"I feel like I'm never going to be fully satisfied with anything I do, but having said that, I'm super proud of the whole EP. If that's my legacy, I'm good," Powell said in a press release.
Today, you can hear the remastered version of "Speak to Me Bones," as well as its acoustic rendition — one of five L'Aventure Acoustique tracks mixed/engineered by Justin Vernon. Give those a listen below, where you'll also find the reissue tracklist.
