The internet has once again turned on Meghan Trainor, as the singer changed the lyrics to her seminal hit to declare that she is no longer about that bass.
While performing at iHeartRadio's KIIS-FM 2025 Wango Tango event, Trainor decided change a line in "All About That Bass" from "Yeah, it's pretty clear, I ain't no size two" to "Yeah, it's pretty clear, I got some new boobs." This supposedly refers to a breast augmentation she got earlier this year.
Of course, people are upset that she changed the lyrics to a track about body positivity, especially since she's been vocal about her and her husband's use of Mounjaro — a diabetes drug similar to Ozempic — to lose weight. Though this is a bit of revisionist history at play, considering "All About That Bass" had its own set of critics when the track came out in 2014.
Fatphobes thought the song glorified being overweight, while people used to all body representation being about them got mad over the line "Go ahead and tell them skinny bitches that." From an objective standpoint, nobody's ever really reached a consensus about "All About That Bass" besides the fact that it's kind of annoying melodically.
Though Exclaim! has historically been an anti-Trainor publication, this one gets a big shrug from us, since changing the lyrics in one live performance isn't going to move any markers in body positivity anyway.
