The 66th annual Grammy Awards are happening this coming Sunday (February 4) at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. In an effort to make you care about this — or consider tuning in, even — the Recording Academy has announced that the venerable Joni Mitchell will be making her debut Grammys performance at this year's awards.
UPDATE (1/29, 3:34 p.m. ET): The Academy has now confirmed that SZA, this year's most-nominated artist, will likewise perform at the event.
Other performers set to take the stage include Billy Joel (for the first time in 18 years), Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Travis Scott, Burna Boy and Luke Combs. U2 will also perform live from the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas, where they are currently amid their U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere residency.
Over the course of her illustrious career, Mitchell has been nominated for 18 Grammys and has won nine, in addition to a lifetime achievement award in 2002. This year, she's up for Best Live Album for Joni Mitchell Live at Newport, recorded during her surprise return to the stage at the 2022 Newport Folk Festival and preceding the icon's first headline show in over 20 years at Washington's Gorge Amphitheatre this past summer.
Hosted by fellow nominee Trevor Noah for the fourth consecutive year, the 2024 Grammys will air this Sunday (February 4) on CBS and Paramount+ starting at 8 p.m. ET.
