Stranger Things actor Joe Keery has made music under the name Djo for a number of years now, but it's suddenly become very popular, as his 2022 song "End of Beginning" has gone viral on TikTok. Now, Keery has shed some light on his artistic productivity, revealing that a six-month stay in Calgary resulted in him recording lots of new music.

Keery appeared on Zane Lowe's Apple Music radio show, where he spoke about recording music while filming Fargo in Calgary over the fall and winter of 2022–2023.

"It was cold," said Keery. "It was a very cold set and I was just in Calgary for six months. It was honestly great for working on music, really, because I was just alone. I had nothing else to do except work on music, yeah. So I was just kind of isolated up there. I had a couple friends, but it was great to just sort of put my head down and focus on what is the next thing I'd like to do."

He pointed out that his sudden explosion in popularity is nicely timed, "Because a lot of stuff is already baked. So I feel happy that I've already done a lot of work."

"End of Beginning" appeared on Djo's 2022 album DECIDE. Thanks to Calgary and its alleged lack of things to do, fans can apparently expect some sort of a follow-up soon.
