Due to the pandemic, Iron Maiden were ultimately forced to postpone the final leg of their "Legacy of the Beast Tour," but the metal icons will now revisit a tour stop in Mexico City for a new live album.
Nights of the Dead, Legacy of the Beast: Live in Mexico will arrive November 20 through BMG, featuring 17 tracks that made up the band's setlist for three sold-out arena shows in Mexico City in September of last year. The album was co-produced by bassist Steve Harris and Tony Newton.
"When the final leg of our 2020 Legacy tour this summer had to be cancelled due to the COVID pandemic, the whole band was very disappointed and deflated and we know our fans felt the same," Harris expressed in a statement.
"We'd been really looking forward to bringing the show to even more countries and although we've been able to reschedule most of our European own-shows for 2021, we thought we'd take a listen to the recordings from the tour so far and see if we could create a definitive live album souvenir that everyone, everywhere could enjoy."
But in that time away from the road, it appears Iron Maiden will soon begin work on new material, for what could be a follow-up to 2015 studio album The Book of Souls.
In a video update shared yesterday (September 30), frontman Bruce Dickinson told listeners, "Well, we're doing bits of writing. I'm talking to Steve [Harris]. We've been working together a little bit in the studio. On what, I can't tell you, 'cause they'd have to kill me."
Nights of the Dead, Legacy of the Beast is now available for pre-order through the band's website in a variety of formats, including 2-CD digipak, deluxe 2-CD hard case, triple 180-gram black vinyl, limited Mexican flag-coloured triple vinyl and digital editions.
