Jewel — who was famously raised in Alaska on a small homestead without heat or running water — has shared a cover of Maggie Rogers' smash 2016 single "Alaska."
"There is no place like Alaska," Jewel wrote in a statement about the cover. "When I first heard Maggie's song, I felt an instinctual draw to the scene she'd created, and the mood of the 'air in between.' Alaska has shaped so much of who I am, and mindful breathwork is a practice I use every day, so I feel a kindred connection to this song. Can't wait for you to hear it, enjoy and let me know what you think!"
Jewel's cover takes the subdued organic-electro pop of Rogers' original to a fuller and more summery pop-rock place.
Jewel released her latest album Freewheelin' Woman earlier this year, while Rogers is gearing up to drop her sophomore full-length Surrender on July 29.
